A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

One of the most important conservative voices of the last century takes on the dangers of secularism, perhaps the most important issue in our lives.

Your beloved dog and a stranger are drowning. Who do you try to save first?

Every time famed radio host, New York Times bestselling author, and Co-founder of PragerU, Dennis Prager, has asked this question, one-third of the audience voted for the dog, one-third for the stranger, and one-third was not sure. We live in an era when people increasingly make moral judgments based on their emotions. But if feelings determine what is right and wrong, then whether murder, rape, and theft are wrong is no more than an opinion. Why are those who riot and destroy property wrong, especially if they feel their behavior is justified? Prager explains that without objective morality, the world will descend into chaos, with every individual engaging in any behavior they feel is right.

For fifty years, Dennis Prager, one of the best-known public intellectuals in the Western world, has explored the vital role Judeo-Christian values play in shaping individual lives and entire societies. In If There Is No God, he engages in provocative and sometimes heated exchanges with questioners who offer some of the greatest challenges he has faced concerning how one determines good and evil and why one's feelings can be life-enhancing yet morally unimportant.

If God exists, why doesn't He punish the unjust? Why does He allow the innocent to suffer? How can religion better the human condition when so many of the religious are often immoral? These timeless questions are in urgent need of answers. The reader need not be religious or even believe in God to find the arguments and debates in this book compelling and meaningful. All one needs is reason to appreciate the ideas Prager presents.

Thought-provoking, important, and accessible for the devout and the skeptic, If There Is No God is a guide for anyone seeking clarity in a morally troubled age.

Customers praised this philosophical Q&A book for its unique format exploring morality and values. Many said it's "thought-provoking" and "easy to understand" with logical arguments. Reviewers appreciated the question-and-answer style and found it "hard to put down." Some recommended it for teens and as "required reading." The format effectively presents complex ideas accessibly.

Such a unique book - no chapters - just questions and answers

Such a unique book - no chapters - just questions and answers. A brilliant way to get Truth to come alive - bit by bit - an unfolding of God's plan for our lives. I read a few pages each day; hard to put down, but it's bringing incremental insights that linger in my mind till the next reading.

Mr. Prager never disappoints.

Very interesting. Mr. Prager never disappoints. The audience members seem a little slow at times in understanding the points being made and ask questions that have already been addressed. Excellent book.

Who Decides What is Right or Wrong?

I have read and listened to Dennis Prager since he first appeared on the radio with "Religion on the Line." I liked that he wanted to draw-out the leaders of the various religions and non-religious representatives he had on.

With this book, he directs his attention, I believe, to those who are not active in a particular faith or a Higher Power that judges us but believe that personal beliefs can direct people to do good, to do, "what it right."
I have studied enough history and human behavior to know that even a person who is a follower of a faith can justify doing evil if he believes it will befit him or his faith even when its teaching says otherwise. After-all, the person who robs a store, doesn't think they are doing evil, but think "I really like those tennis shoes and, hey, his insurance company will pay him back." Or, I'm hungry so it's ok for me to steal some food, or rob this person so I can get food, or maybe the drugs I crave." They don't think they are doing evil.

We must truly believe that there is a Higher Power, no matter what we call him, that teaches us to do what is right and good and that we will be held accountable in our afterlife for our actions in this life. The torah teaches us that G-D said," I set before you goodness and evil, life and death. Choose goodness and life." I do not believe it means just life on earth but how we will experience our life in the hereafter. It doesn't say except if you think it's okay.

Thank you Dennis for another masterful piece. Without a belief in a Higher Power that judges us, our actions are just personal opinions and guided only by what we believe will benefit us here and now.

Great book. Dennis laid out his arguments carefully and convincingly. Took all the tough questions and answered them and challenged the audience members on their beliefs.

Feelings vs Values

Good question and answer session with Dennis Prager on Judeo Christian values. The rational explanation of why values matter to our society is spot on.

Dennis Prager is the wisest living man I know (sort of)

I got this book for my kids really- I've been listening to Dennis since Religion on the line when I was 17 some 40+ years ago. He's simply the wisest man I've known (through the radio and the internet) in my lifetime. This is another great packaging of his wisdom, eminently readable and understandable, yet simultaneously profoundly deep. Get extra copies to give away.

Typical Prager Wisdom - 5 Stars as usual

G od bless Dennis Prager. G od blessed us all with Dennis. Very good book and an easy read. I have been a D Prager fan for years, and for good reason.Years ago, I once heard Dennis say that he did expect to receive a miracle from G od if he was in poor health, etc. He didn't say others had not received them, he just didn't expect one for himself. Dennis, it sounds to me like their may have been a miracle on your behalf since your terrible accident. What say you?
